THE SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY will be celebrated on Friday, December 8. It is a holyday of obligation and Mass attendance is obligatory for all Catholics. Mary was proclaimed the patroness of the United States under this title in 1846. This doctrine of our faith teaches that Mary, in view of her calling to be the Mother of Christ and in virtue of his merits, was preserved from the first moment of her conception from original sin and was filled with grace from the very beginning of her life. The Mass schedule for the Immaculate Conception is as follows:
Vigil Mass (Thursday, December 7): 6:00 pm Saint Rosalia site
Friday, December 8: 8:15 am Saint Paul Cathedral (televised/livestreamed)
12:05 pm Saint Paul Cathedral
6:00 pm Saint Paul Cathedral
