THURSDAY, MAY 9, IS THE SOLEMNITY OF THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD. It is a holyday of obligation for all Catholics, requiring Mass attendance. The Ascension of the Lord celebrates Christ’s ascending into heaven forty days after his Resurrection from the dead. It is on this day that the Lord commissions his disciples to go forth and baptize all nations in his name and promises to be with them until the end of time. Masses for the Ascension will be celebrated:
Wednesday, May 8 (Vigil Mass) – Saint Rosalia Church site at 6:00 pm
Thursday, May 9 – Saint Paul Cathedral at 8:15 am, 12:05 pm and 6:00 pm
The Oakland Catholic High School community will join us for the 8:15 am Mass on May 9.
