REFLECT:
Second Chances…In today’ readings, God is angry with the Israelites because they erected a golden calf and wants to punish them. Similarly in the gospel, Jesus is not happy with the Jews because they don’t believe in him. But in both instances, a second chance is given. I recall a love song from the late 1980s from the classic rock group 38 Special with the words: Please forgive me and forget it, I was wrong and I admit it. But why can’t we talk it over Why can’t we forget about forget about the past? God will always give us a second, third, fourth, fifth…chance. How about us? Do we give a second chance? Its not always easy but is anything worthwhile ever easy?
PRAY:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the patience that you bestow upon me. Help me to give second chances to those who I encounter as you have given me on countless occasions.
ACT:
Try giving a second or third or fourth chance to someone today who is seeking your forgiveness.
