REFLECT:
Another Lent! What will this season of grace bring? How am I prepared to be challenged this year?
As much as I might like, Lent is not about changing the world. Lent is about the quality of my discipleship. The readings in the first three plus weeks will help me to uncover areas of my life that are not in line with my being a follower of Jesus. As sin is uncovered, it is brought before the Lord to be healed and that I can be enlightened. If I have wandered, I can find my way back. If I have fallen, I can get up again. If I have sinned I can be reconciled with the Lord, the Church and my brothers and sisters.
Lent is a time of grace for those who choose to enter into its embrace. One author reflected that Lent is like coloring Easter eggs. The hard-boiled egg is dipped into the dye bath. After a certain period it is lifted out. Most times it needs to be dipped back into the dye. We may need another Lent more than we thought!
PRAY:
Lord, help me to enter fully into this season of grace. Help me uncover the reality of sin and lead me in the path of reconciliation. May your Holy Spirit enlighten me and give me courage to embrace your love and mercy, through Christ Our Lord.
ACT:
Today take time for prayer asking for the Holy Spirit to enlighten you to the areas of your life where you need healing and forgiveness.
