REFLECT:
“If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”
These words found in Psalm 95 do not refer to “hardening of the arteries.” The “heart” for the ancient Hebrews meant the “inner self.” Psalm 95 is very often the initial psalm for the Liturgy of the Hours. Clergy and consecrated religious promise to pray the Liturgy of the Hours every day. Yes these words are chanted or recited day after day - “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” We all need to hear these words over and over again - the invitation to conversion.
There are three more weeks of Lent - a special time to “listen” and “respond” to the invitation to the total transformation of heart, soul and mind.
PRAY:
Father in heaven, my heart beats 50,000 times a day because you gave me the gift of life. Help me to be open to your divine grace so that my “inner self” - my “heart” may be transformed and rejoice in your divine life!
ACT:
Take three minutes to “listen” to the challenge of “change of heart!”
