REFLECT
Less than a month ago, during the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we heard from the Gospel of Luke:
‘Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.’
Today in the Gospel of Matthew, we similarly hear:
‘I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father.’
With everything going on in the world today, this may seem like an incredibly hard directive to follow. We often encounter anger on a daily basis, whether in our own personal relationships or even driving on the road. However, Jesus calls us to truly love one another, as He loves us. Let us reflect on that love during this Lenten season.
PRAY
Lord, help me be mindful of my words and actions towards others. Help me see your face in the people that I encounter today. Let me follow your example of love.
ACT
Practice increased patience today and greet others with a loving heart.
