REFLECT:
Today we celebrate “The Word became flesh…” This feast is also known as The Annunciation, when the angel visited Mary and invited her to become the mother of Jesus. By her “Yes” she conceived Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.
How might God approach us today? What might God’s angel ask of us? How are we likely to respond? Do we say, “Lord, that’s too difficult, or ask someone else, I’m not worthy…” Perhaps we surround ourselves with so much noise that we cannot hear God’s message. Let us open our hearts, eyes and ears. Let us ask God to speak loudly and clearly and to give us the grace to reply as Mary did: “May it be done to me as you say.”
PRAY:
Lord, help me to hear your voice – to know your will and to follow it. Give me the grace to accept and share the love you have given to the world and to me through your Incarnate Son, Jesus.
ACT:
Slowly and prayerfully read Luke’s account of the Annunciation today, found in Luke, chapter 1, verses 26 to 38.
