Reflect:
“ He is truly great, who is great in charity. He is truly great, who is little in his own eyes, and holds as not the pinnacle of honor” (Thomas a’ Kempis, The Imitation of Christ, - Bk I, Chap.3)
We are God’s hands and feet for all his people. Our charity and service to others should imitate what Christ did while he walked and lived among us. Today in the Gospel reading, Jesus explains to the disciples that their focus must not be on blind ambitions and glory but on placing one’s self at the humble service of others. In fact, Jesus not only teaches this by word but emulates it by living it out. “for the Son of Man also has not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.” Perhaps during the remaining weeks and days of Lent we can all try to decrease our selflove just a little more so love of God and service to others may increase.
Pray:
Jesus,
The Way and The Truth and The Life, instill in us the way of humility so we may know the truth and live out a life of charity. Amen
Act:
Demonstrate charity today in some small way to those around you and say this short prayer throughout the day, "O Sacred Heart of Jesus, be my Salvation”
