Catechesis is the name give to the totality of the Church’s efforts to make faithful disciples, “to help me believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and to instruct them in this life, thus building up the Body of Christ.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church makes clear the foundational and privileged ministry of the Church in teaching Christian doctrine in an organized and systematic way “with a view towards initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life.”
Faith formation reaches out to children, young people and adults alike. It is a call to insure that every person seeks to deepen their understanding of the saving mysteries of the faith and so come to a richer faith and a great love for the the Lord and his holy Church.
There are some ways in place that speak to this formation of faith that occurs at Saint Paul Cathedral Parish. There are others that will emerge as we work always to seek ways to deepen our knowledge of the saving mysteries of our Catholic faith.
