ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, AT THE 12:00 NOON MASS we will celebrate a Mass for Peace and Justice and remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be celebrated on Monday, January 16.
THE SAINT PAUL CATHEDRAL PARISH RACE AND RECONCILIATION DIALOGUE GROUP invites all parishioners, friends, and families to attend a special virtual tribute to commemorate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 3:15 pm EST via Zoom.
This virtual program will feature Rev. C. Matthew Hawkins, Parochial Vicar at Saint Benedict the Moor Parish, and Saint Mary Magdalene Parish. Father Hawkins remarks will highlight the contributions of Dr. King during his lifetime and the impact his commitment, courage, sacrifices, and example have had in furthering equality, fairness, and justice in society. All program registrants will receive a selected compilation of books and videos for your review from Father Hawkins, titled: “What Does Catholicism Offer African American Families and Communities.”
The Race and Race and Reconciliation Dialogue Group invited school children in grades 3 through 8 from the Diocese of Pittsburgh to participate in the poster and essay contest to commemorate the theme Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: “Never Give Up the Dream.” The poster and essay elementary school winners will be announced, and the children will share their short essays with the virtual audience.
