Reflect:
Today’s psalm is ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted’. How easy it is to feel alone and discouraged when our hearts are broken either by evil done to us or tragedy in our lives; however, we must remember that God is always near us in our time of trial and calling us to strengthen our faith. ‘When the just cry out, the Lord heard them, and from all their distress he rescues them.’
In ‘Broken Things: Why We Suffer’, author M.R. DeHaan writes, ‘If you are being broken, God is working with you. He is making something – something that will someday astound you with its wisdom and beauty…Some of you are being broken today in body, in spirit and in material things. Remember – until Jesus was broken, He could not be your Savior’
Have faith in the Lord, and know that He will deliver you from your troubles.
Pray:
Heavenly Father, help me accept the things in my life that are hard. Help me understand that your plan for me is far greater than I can comprehend. I put my faith in You, and know that you are always near me.
